Foreign Accent Modification
and American Dialect Instruction
Despite years of self-guided study and intensive ESL instruction, many foreign-born professionals feel their foreign accent hinders success.
Employers who recruit and train specialist-professionals from other countries often find the recruit's strong foreign accent keeps them from performing at full potential.  If you are serious about improving your own or an employee's accented English skills, we can help.

Why Our Approach is Unique
We believe non-native speakers of English deserve an individualized plan of accent instruction because no accent is exactly the same as another.  Generalized instruction methods are easily found, but such programs usually target all the sounds in English, causing the client to waste time and money working on skills and sounds already mastered.

• Our training and experience allows us to create an individualized course of instruction targeting each client's most influential speech patterns and sounds.
• We help our clients begin to attain the most improvement in the least amount of time--weeks, not years. 
  
• Clients learn to hear the difference between their own accented speech and their target pronunciation. 
  
• With their individualized instruction plan, clients can continue to work on improving their speech long after they have stopped studying with us.
  

How do we Create Such a Plan?
Our clients simply read words, sentences and paragraphs aloud for a few minutes into a tape recorder.  Then, we analyze this recorded speech sample and design the client's individualized plan of instruction.

Two Options are Available:

• The Compton P-ESL method, a specialized form of ESL instruction, consists of in-class and at-home exercises targeting only those sounds and speech patterns which contribute most significantly to the client's native accent.  Materials used in class and at home include a workbook, CD-ROM, tapes and other instructional methods and resources.  Typically, the full course of instruction runs either 7 or 13 weeks, one session (approximately two hours in length) per week.

• The  "Learning Opportunity" option.  With this option, clients pay for single sessions as they go, with no requirement to pay for a set number of sessions up front.
  

Additional Training in
Business and Theatre Skills
Training and instruction in workplace, theatre and public presentation skills is also available for business people and for amateur and professional actors.
